Movistar Junior Cup off to successful start

The Movistar Junior Cup, the series designed to uncover fresh racing talent in Spain, is up and running once again and already seems to have unearthed a future gem. Alberto Puig, who plucked current 125cc World Champion Dani Pedrosa from the same series back in 1999, watched on as Ion Garrido took victory in the first round of the season at Catalunya.

Just a few weeks after the final selection trials had taken place for the series, Garrido put his foot firmly on the route to future success with a dominant victory, leading from start to finish despite prolonged pressure from second placed Jose Aguilar. A keenly contested 3rd place battle also took place, and it was Ruben Torres who snatched the final podium spot on the line from Adrian Bonastre.
