New suit for Capirossi at home race

Loris Capirossi heads out to do battle on his home track this weekend safe in the knowledge that he is being protected better than ever by his leather suppliers Spyke. The Italian motorcycle clothing manufacturer has spent the past two years developing a new series of leathers and safety equipment which Capirossi used for the first time on Friday morning.

Capirossi's new suit features shoulder protectors made up of three layers; a low memory anti-shock material covered by an "anti-shock Frame" and an innovative replaceable external shell which self-locks in the event of a crash.

The knee protectors are made by a new system known as CCL (co-injection composite laminates), which uses recyclable thermoplastic laminates, laser cut and thermoformed over by polyurethane plastic.

All the protectors are stitched directly to the leather suit and cannot be moved from their original position in the event of a crash. Spyke claim that the new leathers have obtained extraordinary results during CE homologation tests and report a 60% improvement on their previous versions.
