Lorenzo holds on for home pole

Jorge Lorenzo was unable to improve his time from Friday but hung onto pole position for the 125cc Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya with his record breaking lap of 1'50.497.

Lorenzo was the fastest man in today's session with a time of 1'51.023, with Spanish compatriot Hector Barbera his closest rival despite remaining 0.722 seconds adrift of his fellow teenager's pole time. Casey Stoner and Pablo Nieto clinched the final two front row spots.

Series leader Andrea Dovizioso also failed to improve on his provisional time, slipping down to eighth position to start from the outside of the second row behind surprise package Lukas Pesek, Roberto Locatelli and Mirko Giansanti.
