Randy Mamola reports on the progress at Suzuki

Team Suzuki have taken great strides in 2004, starting with a positive preseason testing period which culminated in a competitive start to the new season, with Kenny Roberts and John Hopkins both showing glimpses of serious potential with the updated prototype GSV-R.

The Japanese factory brought a new spec engine to Catalunya this weekend with a revised firing order designed at reducing engine braking and improved response, which was used to good effect by Roberts, who immediately lapped on the pace despite dropping to 16th on the grid in yesterday's intensely close final qualifying session.

Hopkins was even more impressive, using the previous spec engine to record his best qualifying performance of the season in eighth place.

Randy Mamola went behind the scenes at Suzuki to check out the latest progress being made by the 2000 World Championship-winning team. Watch his exclusive video report by clicking on the link at the top of the page.
