Bayliss OK after heavy crash

Troy Bayliss escaped largely unhurt from a nasty crash at Catalunya on Sunday after another run-in with his old Superbike sparring partner Ruben Xaus. The Australian and the Spaniard came together in the second round of the season at Jerez, both riders falling off in the incident on the second lap, and it was a clash between the hard-riding pair five laps from the end which caused Bayliss downfall on Sunday.

´There was a bit of a battle going on,´ explained Bayliss, who was confirmed as having bad bruises after x-rays at the Clinica Mobile. ´I ended up touching the back end of Xaus´ bike and down I went. It had been a tough race from the start because I´d been getting chatter from the first lap, but that could´ve been a good result for us.´

Bayliss was set to return to action on Monday, testing Ducatis new Twin-Pulse engine alongside several of his MotoGP rivals, including Xaus, at Catalunya.
