Nakano modest after brave ride

Shinya Nakano produced one of the performances of the weekend at the Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya last Sunday, riding to seventh place just seven days after an horrific 200mph crash following a tyre blow-out on the main straight at Mugello. Nakano's race time was just one second slower than his effort from the previous season, when he finished fifth on the Yamaha – proof of both his incredible resilience and the swift progress of Kawasaki and Bridgestone.

"Sure, you know, I was really happy because I had a big accident in Italy and I think I can recover quickly and finally I finished seventh and got some points so that was really great," said Nakano modestly after a day of further tests at Catalunya on Monday.

"What Bridgestone did was really good because I think just after the crash they started to try and find the problem and they brought some new tyres hand-carried, so I think they did a good job.

"We've tested some injections parts and I've seen some improvements so it's interesting for the next race. We have an extra week (before Assen) so hopefully Bridgestone can bring even more tyres."
