McWilliams fit for Assen

Jeremy McWilliams has declared himself fit to ride at Assen next week after recovering well from injuries sustained in a warm-up crash that made him miss last Sunday's race at Catalunya. The British rider suffered bruised lungs in the incident but x-rays revealed no broken bones and he will be back onboard his Aprilia RS3 at the Dutch TT circuit.

"There was a little bit of blood on my lungs and they were quite badly bruised, so that's what was causing the discomfort," commented McWilliams, who took victory in the 250cc race at Assen three years ago. "I've been out jogging and that has helped to get my breathing going and I've been feeling better by the day. I reckon I'll be 100% by next week.

"Obviously Assen has been a good track for me in the past and I always enjoy going back there. It will be tough for us again but I'll be using a new engine with a revised firing order which should make the power a lot smoother so we'll be looking to make some good progress and kick on from there."
