Qatar getting ready for MotoGP

With the Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar just a few months away, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) sent a delegation to the Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya this weekend to discuss the final plans for the race. The envoy included the Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who has lent the government's support to the project, and the president of the QMMF, Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Attiyah.

The circuit and its surrounding facilities are nearing completion, with the final touches being made to the buildings after the track was laid and the necessary safety regulations observed. The track layout is 5.4km in length with sixteen corners (ten right and six left) and a main straight which measures just over 1km.

Whilst the MotoGP World Championship will be held there for the first time on 2nd October, the Losail International Circuit will have a full calendar of events throughout the year, including a riding school, driving school, karting circuit, and a major conference and exhibition centre.
