De Puniet denies feeling the pressure

Randy De Puniet insists he is not under pressure at the top of the 250cc rider standings despite seeing his advantage cut by both Dani Pedrosa and Sebastian Porto at Assen. De Puniet arrived in Rio today with just a one-point lead over Pedrosa, whilst South American favourite Porto is another 22 points further back thanks to his Dutch TT victory.

"Last week at Assen was only the second time I've missed the podium this season, and the only other time was when I had a mechanical problem at Mugello, so there is no need to panic," commented the Frenchman, who joined MotoGP stars Colin Edwards and Carlos Checa on a trip to the Corcovado statue of Jesus Christ today.

"Pedrosa and Porto are getting closer but this is a long championship and I am happy with my form. It looks like the conditions here are going to be difficult because of the heat but I'll just keep going as I have been doing – aiming to win every race. There's no pressure on me."
