Rossi: I lost the front and that was it

Valentino Rossi was understandably disappointed after losing the chance to extend a clear points lead at the top of the MotoGP World Championship with a front-end slip on the thirteenth lap. It was the first time that Rossi had crashed out of a race in over three years, and the Italian revealed his frustration after the race.

We made some modifications before and after warm-up, explained Rossi, who remains level on points with Sete Gibernau, who also crashed. Even though I was riding better the set-up was still not quite right. What a shame - I lost the front and that was it.

I havent fallen in a race since Mugello 2001. Weve been having problems all through the weekend, but we were having a strong race and I felt I was catching the leaders.

Even though I was up with the front group it was very difficult on the left hand corners. If I had managed to finish in fourth place it would have earned us some good points.
