Nieto asks for Aprilia aid

Pablo Nieto made a plea for help to Aprilia factory bosses after battling to seventh place in last Sunday's Cinzano Rio Grand Prix. Nieto had to overcome several glitches with his 125cc machine during the weekend but qualified eighth on the grid and made a good start to lap amongst the front group as they crossed the line for the first time.

However, little by little the youngest of the Nieto dynasty began to lose ground, and formed a second group with Marco Simoncelli, forcing the pace until the last lap but never quite able to mount one of his customary comebacks in the final stages.

"I gave my all, but it wasn't to be," lamented the Spaniard. "Quite honestly my bike just wasn't fast enough, but I hope and wish that between my team and the Aprilia people, we can work together to find a solution.

"It's annoying because my team is working as hard as possible, and also for our sponsors too. We are all giving 100%, but things just aren't going as we hoped.

"I hope that in the next race we are in the right shape to be up at the front of the race."
