Sachsenring expecting record crowds

The electrifying start to the 2004 MotoGP World Championship has captured the imagination of German motorsport fans, who have ensured that the Veltins Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland will welcome record crowds to the Sachsenring this weekend.

Organisers of the eighth round of the series say that last year's record weekend figure of over 204,000 - the highest of the season - is set to be beaten once again, with all but 500 grandstand tickets already sold. They are even looking at the possibility of erecting temporary grandstands to cope with the extra demand.

"Our ticket offices have been non-stop since they opened and we are guaranteed a new record crowd," commented Event Manager Lutz Oeser. "We are expecting the remaining tickets to be snapped up in the next few days and we are considering extra grandstands at this moment.

"All the staff are very excited about this year's Grand Prix and I'm sure crowd will give the riders a great welcome. Hopefully we will have some good weather and I'm sure it will be an excellent weekend of racing."
