> Max Biaggi starts from pole position for the first time since the Pacific Grand Prix last year at Motegi.

> This is the fourth time Biaggi has started from pole position at the Sachsenring circuit where he has also had three podium finishes, including a win in 2001.

> Biaggi's pole position time is the fastest ever lap of the Sachsenring circuit by a motorcycle, just less than one second faster than his previous pole position record from 2003.
