De Angelis savours pole

Alex de Angelis has set his sights on victory after taking his maiden pole position at the Cinzano British Grand Prix. The San Marino rookie took his first podium six days ago at Sachsenring and, after setting the quickest time in three of the four practice sessions over the course of the weekend, says he is confident of carrying his form into tomorrow's race.

"Today is a moment to savour and enjoy," said De Angelis after his pole record lap. "Yesterday and today have been very good for me, we have been fast and consistent and the bike is working very well.

"I am thinking about the possibility of being able to fight the victory. I have been improving every weekend which showed last weekend when I got my first podium in Germany. Now I hope to make a bigger step. "Today the bike was perfect and I have to thank my team because they did a great job. They really know how to get the best performance out of the bike."
