Álvaro Bautista scored his first ever 125cc GP podium last Sunday at Donington Park.

The Spanish rider set off from the third row of the grid with the 9th best time in qualifying, and completed the best race of his career by passing the chequered flag in second spot behind race winner and 125cc standings leader Andrea Dovizioso.

"This is my first podium and I still cannot quite believe it; I am up in the clouds," said the 20 year old from the Seedorf Racing tea right after the race. "I saw that Hector had crashed and was down while Dovizioso had such a fast rhythm. It was impossible to ride with him because I got caught up with Mika Kallio and Corsi."

"I settled down though and was able to find a consistent pace, enough to draw me up to Locatelli. I think I was hassling him because he then crashed. From that moment it was relatively easy to maintain second."

"For a large part of the Championship I have struggled to feel comfortable on the bike, but in Germany we found a good set-up and for this circuit also. This result feels so good before going away on holiday."
