Xaus on course for Rookie of the Year

Runner-up in the World Superbike Championship last year, Ruben Xaus has quickly begun to make an impression in his first MotoGP season.

The Spanish rider, who moved from the Ducati 999 to the Desmosedici of the D'Antin team this year, has featured prominently in recent races, even leading at Mugello before dropping back to fifth, all on a one year old bike.

With nine rounds of the season gone the 26 year old lies eleventh in the championship with 46 points and is the clear favourite for the Rookie of the Year title, with closest challenger Alex Hofmann currently 22 points behind.

In this exclusive interview, Xaus discusses his satisfaction with the way he has started the season, reflects on a career which began in 250cc Grand Prix before switching to national Supersport and then progressing through World Superbike, and outlines his goals for the rest of the season.
