Pablo Nieto taking time off in Ibiza

Like his cousin Fonsi and compatriot Sete Gibernau, Pablo Nieto is one of an exodus of MotoGP riders to have headed for the sunshine in Ibiza over the holiday period. The Spanish island is known for its golden beaches and party atmosphere but Nieto insists his intentions are purely professional as he looks to prepare himself for a tough second half of the season.

"The three week break is an important chance to do some physical training," says Nieto, who currently lies fifth in the 125cc World Championship. "Over the few weeks before the break I wasn't able to train because we had back-to-back races so the first thing was to get some rest, and then start working hard again."

Nieto admits that, despite feeling the benefit of a break from racing, he is already looking forward to getting back on his bike. "After a couple of days at home I already begin to miss the races, the guys in my team, the atmosphere in the paddock, the emotion of racing and everything to do with the World Championship," he says.

"It's been a pretty regular start to the season for me because we've been unlucky in a few races and some good results have slipped between our fingers. Now I just have to keep working on the right lines as we have done up to now and try and fight for the podium or victory at every race between now and the end of the season."
