Hopkins targets podium

John Hopkins says he is targeting a podium finish before the end of the season as he looks to secure his MotoGP future. With rumours already starting to fly about the potential grid line-up for 2005, and discussions sure to be taking place behind closed doors, Hopkins knows he is under pressure to perform in the second half of the season but says he is confident of getting the right results if luck is on his side.

"The only high points about the season so far are just learning to keep your cool and getting on with it," says Hopkins, who has battled all season against injuries and lack of form. "We thought we were going to struggle a lot more at the beginning of the season but the bike is actually really good.

"The start of the season, I had two broken ankles pretty much and they've been bothering me. Then after that got to the end of it I ended up breaking my thumb and my wrist, so now it's just time to put my head down and go for that podium."
