Fonsi Nieto finding it hard to relax

Fonsi Nieto admits he is finding it hard to relax during a summer break in Ibiza after a difficult start to the 250cc World Championship. The Spaniard currently lies fourth overall in the quarter-litre series but has only visited the podium on one occasion, finishing third in his home round at Jerez, and knows he must step up his game over the final seven races.

"I'm not feeling too relaxed at all during this holiday because the season hasn't gone well for me at all – I can't afford to let my guard down," commented Nieto.

"In fact, this isn't even a holiday for me – it's just a three week break from racing which I have to use to gather my physical and mental strength for the second half of the season. The real holidays are in November, when the season is over. I miss racing as I always do – if it was down to me we'd do all sixteen rounds one after the other.

"Things could be worse but I am not satisfied – I'd like to be much further forward. I know I can do it but at the moment things just aren't working out. I don't feel comfortable on my bike and that means I am suffering in every practice session and every race – I'm just not enjoying myself at the moment."
