Janakova set for Brno return

Reigning Czech 125cc champion Marketa Janakova is set for a return to action in her home Grand Prix at Brno next weekend after recovering from injuries sustained in the Cinzano Rio Grand Prix last month. Janakova made a brief appearance at the Sachsenring two weeks after her crash but was ruled unfit to race and also missed out at Donington Park a week later.

However, the 16 year-old will continue her Grand Prix education at Brno and Angaia Racing Team Manager Paolo Tajana is certainly looking forward to having her back, after signing her up to replace Mattia Angeloni.

"From an image point of view, Marketa's arrival in the team has been important, since Katja Poensgen who was one of the first women to do the world championships there's been no woman here," explains Tajana. "So choosing a rider, when there are so many strong riders already here in the series, it's important to look for something in them.

"We believe in her, and we want to see what she can do, and hopefully she will be able to do the entire season next year. Riders are riders whether male or female and the main thing is they know how to open the throttle and go fast!

"She works very well, she's very humble, she knows she hasn't got too much experience, and she accepts all kinds of advice, and tries then to put it into practice on the track. She will try to improve on every single lap on the track and even at tracks she has seen for the first time she's always demonstrated an ability to improve considerably.

"At the moment we've seen on the telemetry that she rides very smoothly, she's very similar to her team-mate Julian Simon, so now it's about picking up experience and confidence with the bike."
