Lorenzo takes another heart-stopper

Jorge Lorenzo took another breathtaking victory in the 125cc class with a last-lap charge which seems to have become his speciality. Andrea Dovizioso had threatened to repeat his dominant win at Donington Park with an early break but was hauled in by the pack and had to fight all the way to the line to clinch second place.

Casey Stoner had chased Dovizioso but crashed out of second place on the second lap whilst Hector Barberá charged through the field after starting in 26th place on the grid. Barberá then led the group as they hauled in Dovizioso but paid the price for his own self-confidence, beckoning other riders to pass him before then getting caught out by a frantic finale which saw eight riders battle for victory on the last lap.

Roberto Locatelli produced the performance of the day to fight back from 30th on the first lap to take third in a dramatic finale, whilst Barberá could only manage seventh – further strengthening Dovizioso's grip on the class. The young Italian now leads by 36 points from Locatelli.
