Porto rejects new chassis in Brno test

Sebastián Porto said that he was happy to have the chance to spend two days testing at the Brno circuit on Monday and Tuesday, despite discarding a new chassis brought to the Czech circuit by Aprilia. The factory rider revealed that the updated version was not as good as the previous chassis, which he went back to before continuing work on engine settings.

"To be honest it is always nice to get the chance to test like this because you have time to try out a lot of things which you can't do in a Grand Prix weekend," commented Porto, who took a victory in Sunday's 250cc race.

"I tried the new chassis but from my point of view the results were not satisfactory and we went back to the old version. We also made a few changes to the general set-up and the engine.

"I was able to evaluate a few improvements and remove a few doubts that I had. In general the lap times were quite good, considering that the temperature was quite low and it was windy."

On Sunday's controversial race, Porto reiterated that he was right to charge ahead despite the protestations of Dani Pedrosa, who criticised the Argentinean for not appealing for the race to be stopped when light rain began to fall with just a few laps remaining.

"It was a very difficult race because it is always risky to ride in these conditions, with light rain at the start and finish of the race but only in certain parts of the track," explained Porto.

"I went well at the beginning but the rear tyre started to slide at the midway stage and I lost a few places. I think we made the wrong choice but I was able to take my chance when the rain returned.

"If it wasn't for that it would have been tough to win the race but I took a chance and it paid off. I am really happy because we have had that little bit of luck we needed."
