Tamada makes most of tyre test

Makoto Tamada completed two days of testing with his Camel Honda team on Tuesday and declared himself satisfied with the progress made. The Japanese rider once again worked closely with Bridgestone on the durability of their MotoGP rubber, whilst also taking the opportunity to refine the set-up of his RC211V ahead of the next round at Estoril and his home race at Motegi two weeks later.

"I am satisfied with the work we have done in this test," said Tamada. "A hundred and eleven laps over the two days have allowed me to improve the set-up of the bike even further and test a lot of tyres.

"The new tyres showed consistent performance and are both competitive and durable. I like the Estoril circuit a lot – I'm going there for the second time so this year it won't be an unknown circuit for me.

"On top of that, the work we have done recently on the set-up of the RC211V, which allowed me to put a good performance in at Brno gives me a lot of confidence going into the final stage of the season."

Tamada heads to Portugal on top form after a stirring ride from 17th on the grid to take fourth at the chequered flag in the Gauloises Grand Prix Ceske Republiky on Sunday.

"It was a shame about the grid position, my whole race depended on the start to see if I could get amongst the top guys," he reflected. "I would have preferred a fourth place where I fought with the top riders.

"Anyway, the race served to get some important information for our development, and to improve our chances, especially because after Estoril comes Japan, my home race, and I want everything right so I can return to winning ways there!"
