Campetella Racing team-mates Franco Battaini and Sylvain Guintoli are both fit to take part in the Grande Premio Marlboro de Portugal next weekend despite heavy crashes in the 250cc race at Brno last week. Battaini went down on the first lap as he tried to force his way through the pack, whilst Guintoli looked comfortable in the second group when he crashed out, his Aprilia bursting into a spectacular fireball.

I got a bad start and in the first corner I saw a man go down in front of me, explained Battaini. I tried to accelerate and recover ground but when I opened the gas I crashed. Im gutted not only for myself, because I could have picked up some precious points for the championship, but also for the team because they deserve a good result.

It was a good weekend for me apart from the crash five laps from the end, added Guintoli, who had started from the front row. I was fighting for sixth place when something happened to the bike and it threw me off I still dont know what it was. The most important thing is that I am okay and ready to get back on top form at Estoril to be in the fight once again.

Team honour was rescued by Campetellas third rider Joan Olivé, who crossed the line in fifteenth place after a precarious race to collect a single point. After a difficult weekend like that we have a point and, although its not much, they all add up, commented the Spaniard. The most difficult race of the year is behind us now and hopefully it can make me stronger at Estoril so that I can continue to progress.
