Roby Rolfo rues the rain

Roberto Rolfo admitted confusion over whether or not the race would be stopped ended his chances of a podium finish at the Gauloises Grand Prix Ceske Repuliky last weekend. The Italian lost touch with the front group during a spell of light rainfall and ended up lapping alone in sixth place, a result he wasn't too unhappy with under the circumstances.

"The rain really defined the race and it was not easy to understand what was going on as it was dry and damp in different parts," commented Rolfo, who finished second in the championship last year but now lies ninth with a 119-point gap to leader Dani Pedrosa.

"In the damp spots I had a couple of scares which meant I lost ground on the leaders, and I was not in contact with West and Elias so in the end I finished the race on my own.

"Still, everything considered I am happy with how things went, not the result but the performance of the bike and the work we have done on the front wheel. But now we must start to fight for victories".
