Rivals look to rumble consistent Dovizioso

Andrea Dovizioso arrives at the eleventh round of the 125cc World Championship looking to take his impressive run of consistency to unprecedented new levels, and extend a series lead which currently stands at 36 points over Roberto Locatelli.

Dovizioso has taken top four finishes in all ten rounds so far and is the first rider to achieve the feat since 1987, when Fausto Gresini won the opening ten races. A repeat performance at the Grande Premio Marlboro de Portugal this weekend would set a new record in the class, and take the Italian youngster one step closer to a title which seems to have had his name on it since victory at the opening round in South Africa.

Dovizioso is sure to face another stern test from teenagers Hector Barberá and Jorge Lorenzo, who will be backed by a strong following of support from across the Spanish border. Barberá holds the lap record at Estoril, whilst Lorenzo is looking to end a run of 33 races without a back-to-back winner in the class after his dramatic victory at Brno.

However, the only man in the 125cc class to have previously tasted victory at Estoril is their fellow Spaniard Pablo Nieto, who scored the only Grand Prix win of his career last year in what was his 75th start.
