Barros dominates wet FP2

Alex Barros was again the main protagonist of the free practice session at Estoril this morning crashing out but ending the session with the best time, just as he had done yesterday. In wet conditions caused by heavy morning rain Barros was one of four riders to crash, with Troy Bayliss, Sete Gibernau and Marco Melandri also hitting the greasy track surface.

Provisional pole position holder Valentino Rossi managed to stay on board his Yamaha as he rode to the second fastest time ahead of Gibernau, Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa.

Conditions remained wet for the 250cc class but bright sunshine came out towards the end of the session, giving hope of dry qualifying practice this afternoon. Franco Battaini made the most of the drying track to set the quickest time of the session ahead of Fonsi Nieto, Toni Elías and Anthony West, who had dominated in the wet conditions.

In the 125cc class KTM riders Casey Stoner and Mika Kallio were again on form, with Stoner setting the best time, just 0.013 seconds quicker than his team-mate despite also crashing.
