Hodgson frustrated by team

Neil Hodgson expressed his frustration after his early pace at Estoril was repressed in the final qualifying session due to what he described as "a bit of inexperience" from his d'Antin Ducati team. Hodgson had made a promising start on his first visit to the Portuguese track on Friday, qualifying thirteenth on the provisional grid, but went backwards instead of forwards in today's final session and lost two places.

"We just got lost, like we've done all season," said Hodgson. "The team have shown a bit of inexperience because we've tried about ten different settings on the bike and I lost a lot of time when we were changing things.

"You know, if you do that then it makes life very difficult. At the end I put in a qualifier but I made a mistake on the first lap and by the second lap the tyre was finished. That was the story of the session really.

"It's just so difficult when you come to a track for the first time and you find these conditions. When you start to find a direction and then it rains, you end up wasting a session and have to panic trying different things out when it's dry.

"Unfortunately this team doesn't test, so when you don't test you have to do your testing on the weekend and that makes my job very difficult. That's about all I can say really."
