Melandri hoping for return to form

Marco Melandri says he is hopeful of a positive end to the season after struggling in recent weeks with the hand injury he sustained at Donington Park before the summer break. The Italian, who became the youngest rider ever to clock up 100 Grand Prix appearances at Motegi two weeks ago, has scored two podiums already this season, at Catalunya and Assen, and would like to add to his collection before the year is out.

"It's been a very nice season, sometimes it's very bad with a lot of injuries but the good thing is that I have good speed almost every single race," says Melandri. "Sometimes I have bad luck, and sometimes I make a mistake and lose the possibility to get good results.

"Now we have to do the last part of the season and I want to be positive about the future. I think we can get some good results, I hope to go on the podium some more times. We will see. Anyway, I think it is ok, I need to be a bit more consistent and a bit more lucky."
