With temperatures around 40ºC and fierce sunshine from dawn till dusk, the conditions in Qatar require unique levels of preparation for the members of the MotoGP paddock. From the tyres to the engine, the 990cc prototype machines are given special settings to cope with the track conditions, whilst the riders themselves also have to make key provisions.

At Team Suzuki, the man entrusted with looking after the physical condition of both the riders and staff is Dean Miller, an American sports physiotherapist who originally began working in the Grand Prix paddock with triple World Champion Kenny Roberts Sr. over two decades ago.

In this exclusive feature, Miller gives a detailed explanation on the extra measures he has to take to keep John Hopkins and Yuki Kagayama on top form in Qatar, and outlines the key elements to rider sustenance and endurance.
