Locatelli optimistic despite title disappointment

Roberto Locatelli was in positive mood after the Marlboro Grand Prix of Qatar despite missing out on the points because of a mechanical problem with his Aprilia. The former World Champion's hopes of repeating the title this year are now over and he faces a challenge to take second or third in the championship after being relegated to fourth by Jorge Lorenzo .

"I already had a problem with a spark plug on the sighting lap and my mechanics had to change it on the grid," explained Locetelli, who has already stated his intention to move up to the 250cc class next season. "When I went out for the warm-up lap I realised that the bike still wasn't working very well but there was no more time to do anything so I just had to race with it.

"It's a shame because the team had worked hard for this race and we were ready to take a lead role. Fate had other ideas and the championship is basically over as far as I am concerned. But it's been a positive season for me because the team have always been at the front."
