McWilliams suffers Doha disappointment

Jeremy McWiliams was cruelly denied the chance to claim his best result of the 2004 season at the Losail International Circuit after being forced to retie with a mystery engine problem after twelve laps.

McWilliams made a good start from fourteenth position on the grid and by the end of the first lap he'd gained three positions, locking into an exciting tussle with John Hopkins and Alex Hofmann before the breakdown.

"I made a really good start and was quickly into a good rhythm," explained McWilliams. "The work on improving the bike in practice and qualifying had really helped the way the bike performs and solved a lot of our problems.

"It was at about the halfway point when something didn't feel quite right and then all of a sudden the engine stopped. I decided to pull into the gravel trap so I didn't crash. I'm pretty disappointed because I'm sure we could have got our best result of the season."
