McCoy back in the MotoGP paddock

Garry McCoy returned to the MotoGP paddock today after an absence of almost a year, replacing Shane Byrne at MS Aprilia. The Australian slide specialist has spent the last season riding in the World Superbike series but admitted he was glad to be back amongst the elite of motorcycle racing in Malaysia.

"I'm definitely looking forward to it, I'm pretty excited and I'm happy to be back," commented McCoy, who won three races riding the 500cc Yamaha in 2000. "I haven't really seen (the Aprilia RS3) a lot, other than what I've seen on the track, because you don't really get to see it much on television so it's really hard to say.

"A lot of people say ‘it's going to be tough' and ‘try to be careful' and whatever so I'll just go out to try and use this weekend like a learning curve to try to learn the bike and get comfortable with things again and look forward to Phillip Island."
