Locatelli pinches pole

Roberto Locatelli set the quickest time of the 125cc second qualifying practice with his very last lap to snatch pole position from under the nose of Jorge Lorenzo.

Home favourite Casey Stoner had also come desperately close, lapping just 0.047 seconds slower than the Spaniard, but both were outdone by Locatelli's late effort of 1'37.417 and had to settle for front row starts in second and third respectively.

Steve Jenkner had sat on pole with just a few moments of the session remaining but lost positions in the late push for times and dropped to the outside of the front row in fourth place.

New World Champion Andrea Dovizioso made an attempt to gatecrash the front row on his last lap but his time fell just short and he will start from fifth. Dovizioso is joined on the second row by provisional pole setter Gino Borsoi, Mika Kallio and Hector Barberá.
