Winning photos from the FIM contest

In celebration of its centenary year, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) organised a photo contest, open to professionals and amateurs, which was designed at catching the ‘emotion, beauty, power, passion, fascination, impact and delight' of motorcycling within the context of FIM sporting or non-sporting events.

The winners of the contest were announced by the selection committee during the FIM Congress held last month in Paris.

British photographer Tim Keeton won the professional contest with a spectacular shot of former Grand Prix rider Noriyuki Haga, pictured avoiding Vince Whittle's bike at Oulton Park, during a British Superbike round.

The amateur contest was won by French off-road racing enthusiast Serge Beaufils, who submitted a photo of Enduro star Juha Salminen at the WEC Grand Prix de France at St Rémy sur Durolle.

The contest was sponsored by Canon, who offered top of the range equipment as a prize to the best entry, including a Canon EOS – 1D Mark II for the top professional and a Canon EOS 300D for the best amateur.

The prizes were presented to the winners at the the MotoGP Awards Ceremony which took place last weekend, at the Oceanographics Museum of Arts and Science in Valencia.
