Just one day after the end of the 2004 MotoGP World Championship, Carlos Checa was back on track at the Valencia circuit to make his debut on the Ducati Desmosedici he will ride in the same series next season. Checa clocked a best lap time of 1'34.0 on his first day, and went a tenth quicker when the team returned to the track on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the Spaniard got down to a 1'33.7 and ran his total laps up to almost 200 over the three days of testing. Checa and his Ducati Marlboro team-mate Loris Capirossi will be back on track at Jerez from 23-25 November.

"Carlos is a very fast and highly motivated rider, we're proud to have him on our team, and we're sure that his experience will be crucial in helping us to continue moving forward," commented Ducati Corse CEO Claudio Domenicali.
