Capirossi pleased with Desmosedici evolution

Loris Capirossi got his first taste of the evolution version of the Ducati Desmosedici at Valencia last week in the final day of a three-day test session. The Desmosedici, fitted with a series of electronic modifications, had only previously been used by tester Vittoriano Guareschi and is still at a prototype stage as the team look to put together a machine to challenge Yamaha and Honda in 2005.

Capirossi, who mainly focussed on providing Ducati Corse engineers with feedback and suggestions, completed 28 laps with the new bike, mainly aiming to obtain the right feeling with the new components, and set a quickest time of 1'34.8.

On the previous two days of the test, Capirossi switched between the Desmosedici GP4 in two different chassis and rear swing-arm configurations whilst Guareschi was out on the track with the evolution version to test several components - the exhausts, the lower fairing and the tail-unit - for the first time.
