Biaggi undergoes surgery after delay

Max Biaggi has finally undergone surgery this afternoon on what turned out to be a double-break of his left leg in Lyon, France. The Italian sustained the injury on Saturday riding supermoto in Rome and was due to go under the knife on Monday, but the operation was delayed until Tuesday afternoon.

Surgery was carried out successfully by Professor Coillard, with the assistance of the MotoGP World Championship's Clinica Mobile Doctor, Claudio Costa. Biaggi is set to be discharged on Thursday and will begin his recovery at home in Monaco.

Within two weeks the Italian will be able to begin work with his physiotherapist Marino Laghi and he should be fit to return to action at the first HRC tests of the 2005 preseason at the end of January. Biaggi is effectively ruled out of the factory's next batch of tests scheduled for Jerez later this month.
