Checa motivated by Ducati future

Checa motivated by Ducati future

Just one day after the end of the 2004 MotoGP World Championship, Carlos Checa was back on track at the Valencia circuit to make his debut on the Ducati Desmosedici he will ride in the same series next season. Checa clocked a best lap time of 134.0 on his first day, and went a tenth quicker when the team returned to the track on Wednesday.

Last Thursday, the Spaniard got down to a 133.7 and ran his total laps up to almost 200 over the three days of testing. Checa admitted that it was strange to jump straight from the Yamaha YZR-M1 to the Desmosedici, as well as a completely new team of mechanics, but said he was encourage by the experience.

I feel quite well with this team, I feel quite motivated and a lot of illusion, reflected Checa, who will be back on track with his Ducati Marlboro team-mate Loris Capirossi at Jerez from 23-25 November.

We needed to start as soon as possible working with this bike, we need to do some improvements, of course, and I need to adapt and understand the bike as well as I can.

We have plenty of time but we need to use all the hours, all the days we will have from now to the start of the season to take the best conclusions, to get the best feelings and find the best set-up to start the new season that I expect many good things.
