Talmacsi and Simon to join Kallio at KTM

Gabor Talmacsi and Julian Simon will join Mika Kallio at Red Bull KTM next season in a three-pronged assault on the 125cc World Championship. The announcement comes on the same day that KTM unveiled their plans to run Anthony West in the 250cc series and follows on the back of a successful second season for the Austrian factory in the 125cc class.

Casey Stoner scored their first ever victory at Sepang in Malaysia and Kallio also scored a top ten finish in the championship. Kallio, 22, will be in his second full season with KTM and Team Manager Harald Bartol expects the Finnish rider to be battling for the title in 2005, backed up by strong challenges from Talmacsi and Simon.

"The 125cc World Championship is a primary goal for next year," said Bartol, who will oversee the 125cc and 250cc projects.

A team statement added: "In the 125cc championship KTM's goal is to challenge for the World Championship in 2005 with three fast and strong riders in Kallio, Simon and Talmacsi.

"The KTM 125cc team now has a strong platform to work from as it enters its third season of GP competition after first racing the 125cc GP in the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka in 2003."

Spanish teenager Simon, 17, impressed this season with his first front row qualifying performance at Brno whilst his best race result was a sixth place finish at Sepang. Talmacsi, 23, from Budapest in Hungary, made his Grand Prix debut at Brno in 2000 and brings four seasons of experience to the KTM team.
