Hayden pleased with new team

Nicky Hayden reported positively from his first tests with a new team of mechanics in the Repsol Honda garage at Valencia last week. HRC made sweeping changes to the American youngster's technical staff and Hayden was encouraged by their early progress.

"It's never too early to get started for next year and we know we've got a lot of work to do so we got going," said Hayden. "My lap times were okay – I did a 1'33.1, which is a lot better than I went all weekend on race tyres.

"Starting with the new team, it was important to start getting the communication down with some of my mechanics, crew chief and also my chief mechanic – it's a new position for him.

"We've got a lot of work to do, a long way to go but I feel like we got some things done and a better direction for the bike so we'll just move on to Jerez in a couple of weeks and try to keep getting closer and making things easier."
