Corsi confirmed by Aprilia

Aprilia Racing have confirmed that Simone Corsi will be riding official machinery in the 125cc World Championship next season, taking over the seat vacated by Hector Barberá. Whilst Barberá's former team Seedorf Racing have switched to Honda, Sport Director Valerio Sbarra has stayed with Aprilia and will head up Corsi's new look outfit.

"It is the second year in a row that we have been trying to get Simone to race with us," commented Sbarra, who runs his own outfit known as Team 3C. "We have known him since he raced minimotos and we are sure that he will be able to do well in 2005 in the seat of our Aprilia.

"We guarantee Simone first-class treatment and we are still weighing up various options for the second rider, but we are really satisfied with the agreement we reached."

Corsi, who has spent the past two seasons as team-mate to 125cc World Champion Andrea Dovizioso riding a Honda, will make his competitive debut with Aprilia in the final round of the Spanish Championship at Jerez in two weeks' time.

"I am happy, I always wanted to race for Aprilia and finally I have the chance," said the 17 year old. "Next year I will be part of Team 3C in the 125 category with all of the support that I could ever need.

"Not just that, but I will also start to race immediately. Sunday the 21st will be my first race on the RS125 in the last of the Spanish season. I can't wait!

"I think I will do well on an Aprilia because, as far as I am concerned, it is more comfortable. I am fairly tall and I know that on the RS I will be able to display my talents much better!"
