Xaus to race in SEAT Supercup

Ruben Xaus will be back in race action this weekend, just a fortnight after the end of the MotoGP World Championship. The Rookie of the Year will be at his home circuit of Catalunya to take part in the final round of the SEAT Leon Supercup touring car race.

The series has reached an exciting climax after five previous rounds at Catalunya, Jarama, Estoril, Cheste and Jerez, with Spanish favourite Marc Carol leading British rival Matt Johnson by just fifteen points. Xaus certainly won't want to get in the way of the title battle but, in typical style, says he is racing to win.

"You always have to go out to win," said Xaus. "I want to put on a dignified performance although I am aware of my limitations. Even so, I want to do as well as I possibly can.

"I'll be asking (fellow driver) Jordi Gené for advice – he's always given me good tips whenever I have had the chance to race a car. Also, he's a SEAT driver so that will be an added help because I'm sure he knows the performance of the car inside out."

Meanwhile, Xaus' fellow Spaniard Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar', the former 80cc World Champion and current 125cc and 250cc team owner, will also be at the track to take part in the final round of the GT Spanish Championship as co-driver to José Manuel Valero in a sixty-lap endurance race.
