Biaggi back on his feet after surgery

Max Biaggi is back on his feet and resting at home in Monaco after recovering from an operation on his broken left leg. Biaggi sustained the injury in a supermoto accident at the weekend and underwent surgery in Lyon by two specialized medical crews on Tuesday.

However, the gritty former 250cc World Champion was determined to make his first steps with MotoGP Doctor Claudio Costa and personal physiotherapist Marino Laghi by his side.

"On Wednesday morning Max was checked and the drainage has been removed," said Doctor Costa. "He could make a few steps with the crutches and soon after he started to make some small movements with his foot. Everything is going well and he was able to go home on Thursday."

The injury could not have come at a worse time for Biaggi, who had his first test as an official HRC rider at Valencia last week and was preparing for a three-day session at Jerez at the end of the month. However, now he can only hope that he is ready to return to action at the preseason tests in January.

"It will be a tough winter," said Biaggi. "But I'm ready to make any sacrifices in order to be fine for the first testing session of the new year, you can bet on it."
