Takahashi confirmed as team-mate to Dovizioso

Yuki Takahashi has been confirmed as team-mate to Andrea Dovizioso in a new factory Honda line-up set to tackle the 250cc World Championship next season. The 250cc Japanese Champion and the 125cc World Champion will form part of the merged Kopron Team Scot and Racing outfit and will both tackle their rookies seasons in the series on official machinery.

The deal was completed at the MOMI Bikes and Legends festival in Pesaro at the weekend, where Dovizioso put pen to paper on a two year deal with the team which helped him to the 125cc title in 2004. Takahashi was the natural choice to join the Italian after finishing fifth as a wildcard at Motegi this season and winning the coveted national series for Honda.

This is the second time in successive seasons that HRC have teamed up the 125cc World Champion with the 250cc Japanese Champion, having paired Dani Pedrosa with Hiroshi Aoyama in Telefonica Movistar Honda colours this year.

"With the support of the most prestigious factory in world motorcycling, Honda, the team are aiming for the world title in their first season in the class and will take to the circuits with new colours and an exclusive hospitality unit," said a team statement.

"The technical structure will also be bolstered to tackle this new and demanding challenge. There will be a team working on the preparation of the bikes at the base in Pesaro and two independent teams at the track, working exclusively on the race set-up."
