Angaia Racing confirm Janakova and Kuzuhara

Team Angaia Racing have confirmed their line-up for the 125cc World Championship next season, with Marketa Janakova set to be joined by Japanese rookie Toshihisa Kuzuhara. Janakova has been rewarded for some impressive performances in 2004 as a replacement for Mattia Angeloni and Kuzuhara gets his Grand Prix chance after scoring points as a wildcard rider at both Motegi and Sepang this season.

Both riders will ride Honda ‘kit' machines and Team Chairman Paolo Taiana revealed his satisfaction at the deal. "We finished level on points with the factory Gilera team last year in our first season with a new team structure and Julian Simon was almost always the first Honda home behind Dovizioso," he said.

"Our results were evidence of hard work and efficiency and HRC have rewarded us for that with two ‘kit' bikes for 2005. Kuzuhara scored seven points in just two appearances as a wildcard this season – more than some riders managed in all sixteen races.

"Marketa came in this year as a substitute for Mattia Angeloni from Assen and it was difficult for her. She wasn't in peak fitness because of a crash at Vallelunga in the European Championship, she didn't know the circuits and the standard in the World Championship is very high. On top of that, she had a couple of bad falls at Brazil and Sepang but even so she often finished ahead of several rivals.

"For an Italian team to go for a Japanese and a Czech rider gives us international appeal and we are looking forward to announce a tobacco company as our main sponsor very soon."
