French riders Randy de Puniet, Arnaud Vincent, Olivier Jacque and Régis Laconi were the stars of the Shark X-Treme Adventure Raid at San Jean de Luz beach in the south of France at the weekend.

The competition, run by the helmet manufacturers Shark, integrated motorcycle, canoe, mountain bike and races on foot and, although De Puniet's results were nothing to write home about, the 250cc star certainly enjoyed himself.

"I was put in the VIP section so I completed the course on a trials bike," commented De Puniet. "I also took part in the canoeing and cycling event. It was really good fun and the weather was perfect."

Former 125cc World Champion Vincent also enjoyed the experience, which also served to keep the riders in shape as they await the start of their winter testing programmes.

"We had a really good time, the organisation was excellent and the route was wonderful. I do a lot of off-road training and I was particularly keen to take part because Shark have supported me for a long time and we have a good relationship."
