Pons hails "explosive" new partnership

Sito Pons has revealed his delight at the signature of Alex Barros and Troy Bayliss for Camel Honda, describing their partnership as potentially "explosive". Barros was unable to test at Jerez earlier this week due to a shoulder injury but Bayliss adapted swiftly to the RC211V with a series of fast lap times on the final day.

"The truth is that I am really satisfied because we've managed to put together a team of two very experienced riders with a lot of potential," commented Pons. "Alex Barros already spent four years with us and we won a lot of races – he is always a rider to take into account.

"Troy Bayliss is new to us. He has always been with Ducati and for the first time he's going to ride a Honda. He is very highly motivated and I think the combination of the two riders could be explosive.

"The important thing is that, with the level of both riders being similarly high, they will have an extra motivation to do well and a bit of internal rivalry should give them both a push. That is what gives you the opportunity to fight for championships."
