Miralles the latest to follow father's footsteps

Julián Miralles will become the latest rider to follow the footsteps of his father into Grand Prix racing when he makes his debut as a full-time entry in the 125cc World Championship in 2005.

Julián Miralles Senior competed in the 125 class in the late 80s and early 90s, with a best finish of fourth in the championship in 1988, when he took three second places at Jarama, Nurburgring and Brno. Miralles Junior finished second in the Spanish 125cc Championship, which only finished two weeks ago at Jerez, and says he is looking forward to the new challenge.

"I'm going to take it carefully, the domestic season has just finished but I'm looking forward to a very important year for me," said Miralles, who will ride an Aprilia for Team Aspar.

"I've been competing in the Spanish Championship for five years now and it looks as though I'm finally going to achieve my dream of contesting a whole World Championship season. Hopefully I can get some good work under my belt over the winter and be absolutely ready for the start of the season."
