Barberá: ‘I'm feeling better all the time on this bike'

At the end of his third test on board his new 250cc machine, which took place last week at the Valencia circuit in Spain, Héctor Barberá was outwardly optimistic with the results he had achieved in this first stage of adaptation to the quarter-litre class and his Honda RSW.

The youngster from Dos Aguas near Valencia made his 250 debut at his local Cheste track just a day after the 2004 Championship came to a close. After these initial tests and those which took place later on at Jerez and Valencia once again, Barberá summed up his experiences so far in the category.

`We rode over two days the first time we tested here, and this time we could only spend a day working and I think the lap times will have been very similar,´ explained the Spaniard who will join up with compatriot Jorge Lorenzo in 2005.

`I felt very comfortable and tried to pick up a bit of rhythm, given that this bike makes you tired more quickly. Up to now it was hard for me to put in more than twelve consecutive laps, I was pretty exhausted after that and I couldn't really do any long stints.´

`However I'm feeling better all the time on this bike, I'm enjoying myself a lot more and I'm understanding more things too. We've only just begun testing and I'm already excited about the next time I test it. I just hope Christmas passes by quickly and I can get on board again soon!
